"I have an idea
about which animal I want to carve, and look for a specific shape. The
nearer to the shape I get, the less stone I have to remove. Once the
subject is pictured on the surface, the stone must also possess
sufficient depth. It must be pictured in 3 dimensions, especially
when an animal will twist around a stone for a 360 degree perspective."
